Mary Voskens

Chair

"When I was approached as a possible new chairman of the Supervisory Board at the end of 2021, I didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately said 'yes'. About 20 years ago my nephew died of cancer. He turned 13 months old. short life I have often sat at his bedside and experienced his illness up close, and his enormous will to live. I have heard, seen and felt what a child's illness and its inevitable end means to parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents , further family and the wider circle of close ones. The dilemmas on a medical, emotional, psychological, social, societal, pedagogical, financial and relational level are numerous. At the time there was no Knowledge Center. It is very important that there is now a beacon in all those areas and source of information for parents and care professionals. At a distance or close by, purely with knowledge or also personally. An integrated and joint approach of all stakeholders. Enthusiastic people who are there for the child , parents, professionals and relatives want to 'be' and want to further improve the quality of pediatric palliative care. 'Making the undiscussable negotiable' remains an important theme. I would like to use my administrative experience and knowledge from the business community, the financial world and the judiciary for the Knowledge Center and hope to contribute in a small way to its further development. With heart and soul."
