Physician support center

Physicians seeking support or advice in complex decision-making regarding the end of life in children can contact the End of Life Children's Physician Support Center by telephone. The support center advises and thinks along with questions about, for example, the process of decision-making in treatment, treatment restrictions or decisions about the end of life. After the death of a child, a doctor can also call on the support center for a support meeting with a colleague about the course of the procedure. Procedural, substantive and emotional aspects can be discussed here.

Physician support center

The Physician Support Center facilitates peer consultation and thinks along with medical-ethical dilemmas. The support center is not intended for acute care questions or as a 'second opinion' group.

Multidisciplinary team

The End of Life Children's Physician Support Center consists of a core group of paediatricians and doctors for the mentally handicapped (AVG). They form couples who offer advice and support over the phone. When a doctor calls on the Doctor's Support Center via the telephone number, a couple of AVG and paediatrician ensures a quick first contact and a substantive response. In the background, a multidisciplinary team of experts, including a KNMG ethicist and KNMG lawyer, is available for further discussion of difficult ethical/legal dilemmas.
